Where we came from & where we are going.

EARLY YEARS

·  In 1993, Pacific Academy Christian School (PA) became involved in International Christian education in Kibaale, an extremely poor village in central Uganda;

·  At this time, PA began its mandate to provide teacher training at Kibaale Community School with its small staff with the assistance of Arleen Bucholtz who was the headmistress/director of education from 1993-1999;

·  The PA board of directors and the headmaster, Ray Sutton, had a united vision to see teacher development be implemented;

·  As the school grew in staff, Arleen continued to teach and develop an understanding of what a Christian school entailed and taught various topics such as Biblical Worldview, Christian school Philosophy and Methodology;

·  The training that was conducted for our teachers in Kibaale Community School enabled them to become highly effective teachers, other local Ugandan schools began requesting help in training their teachers as well;

·  2012-2013, the first official teacher training centre was opened at the Timothy Centre, Masaka, Uganda, under the direction of PA teacher, Arleen Bucholz;

·  From 2012-2016, a rotation of teachers from PA were sent to Uganda to provide teacher training(Ken Drisner, Gillian Hamm, Ruth Blois, Paul Horban, Lizabee Wickett, Rob Teasdale, Claudia Petersen)

Claudia as Director

· In 2016, Claudia Petersen was hired to revise the teacher training model to a 1 year/3 modular teacher training program;

·  PA invested into assisting the South Africa - Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) to support Samson Mukhado the director and the association as they sought to become sustainable;

·  That same ACSI model was gradually adopted for Uganda(2010),they have been working hard to grow membership, conferences and courses offerings;

·  And this year (2018) we (PA and myself) partnered with ACSI Uganda to run the TTT program through their organization in the hopes of providing guidance, instruction and leadership so that they as well can become sustainable in the future.

January 2020 TTT ran programs only in January….In Kampala area we started with around-85 attendees but then I never returned until Oct. but we did not continue the program

2021-2022 ALL schools in Uganda were officially closed due to COVID. I did travel but we only ran one program during that time.

In 2023 we rebooted the TTT Program and that year we trained 80 teachers/administrators from various regions , Kampala central and Western Uganda

In 2024 we trained over 80 teachers/administrators  from Kampala Central and Western Uganda

In 2025 we trained 120 teachers/administrators in Kampala Central, Western Uganda and Eastern Uganda
